Prato Sesia is a small town in Piedmont, in the province of Novara. It is at the feet of the Sopramonte hill, from where it is possible to admire a spectacular landscape enclosing Sesia river and the Monte Rosa Massif until the Novara valley.

A document from 1014 quotes the town with the name of Karon (maybe with celtic origin) and always in the same period, a tower was built on Sopramonte hill in addition to “Tornielli Castle” (13th century). Some historians state that Prato is the hometown of Frà Dolcino, the guide of heretical movement of Apostles, quoted by Dante in Divine Commedy (Inferno XXVIII 55-60).

The general officer Giacomo Antonini is born in 1792  and Alessandro Fasola, one of the Thousand led by Garibaldi. Only in 1862 “Sesia” was added to the name “Prato”.  Municipality always  promotes initiatives linked to childhood themes, adheringto the project “Nati per Leggere” and organizing corses and animated reading in its library.
