Montecchio Maggiore preserves many Medieval traces: it is dominated by Bellaguardia Castle and Villa Castle, also named “Romeo and Juliet Castle”.  Castles have been looking each other for centuries: they are parted by a valley but near as two unhappy lovers. Probably, few people know that the tragic history about Romeo and Juliet wasn’t written by Shakespeare in origin, but by Luigi Da Porto who set the novel in those castles.
