Winner of 4th International Illustration Competiton

The Artist Laura Berni of italian origin (Florence), with the Work entitled: “Cooking art do it yourself” won the first prize  concerning the  4th Edition of the International Illustration Competition , whose theme was “Nothing to do with it”.

Laura Berni, was born in Florence in 1962,and she had her degree at the Faculty of Science education. During these years she has participated at different illustration courses at the Sermede school. Last October she published her first illustrated album entitled  “I dreamt” written by Luigi Dal Cin.

On Friday, February 4th 2012, during the inauguration of exhibition, the author has been awarded by: the president of Fondazione dr. Giovanni Malagutti, by the town councilor for public education  Cristina Bonaglia and by Stefano Gorla, Director of the famous children review “Il Giornalino”.

The jury with the winning illustration, created by Laura Berni.The winner illustration will be chosen by a technical Jury: dott. Claudio Rizzi - Art Critic; dott. Marco Berveglieri - Director of “Red Publishing”Company; dott. Stefano Riboli Associazione Illustratori; Cristina Del Piano Journalist of  Gazzetta di Mantova; dott. Giovanni Malagutti - President of Fondazione Malagutti onlus. It will be the official image for poster, participation form and advertisement of the 11th Edition 2012 regarding the International Drawing Competition for children and adolescents from 3 up to 14 years The Competition is organized by Fondazione Malagutti onlus, its aim is to promote Child’s Rights and honour the Universal Children ‘s  Day ( November 20th).

The initiative intends to make the best of the ability and the sensibility of every illustrator in representing the world of childhood with a particular attention to social themes and the respect of Children’s Rights; it has been organized by Fondazione Malagutti onlus in partnership with Associazione Illustratori, the patronage of Comune di Mantova and the co-operation of Museo della Città di Palazzo San Sebastiano.

This edition involved many illustrators from Italy and abroad. We’ve chosen the theme “Nothing to do with it” because it reminds to children’s world, their games and our tradition. It is a playful way to emphasize a particular situation.

Originality and fantasy in representing stories and tales, cabbage has been drawn in many situations, also metaphorically. Variety is a characteristic of method of drawing:chalks, tempera, watercolours, pencils, Photoshop, collage with cottons, yarns, bottons.

Illustrations will be laid out from 4 to 12 February 2012 at Museo della Città - Palazzo San Sebastiano, Largo 24 Maggio, 12 - Piano Terra, Sala del Porcospino e Sala del Crogiolo – (free entrance).
