I Edition - Competition for professional illustrators: Flying kids

The first International Competition for professional illustrators has just ended; it was aimed to Italian and strangers artists. The theme of this competition was “flying kids”, organized by Fondazione Malagutti onlus in partnership with Association of illustrators.

Illustrations came from Italy (Lombardia, Lazio, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piemonte, Marche, Umbria e Sardegna), Spain, Hungary and Great Britain.

On Friday 30th January the Technical Jury gathered to choose the winner of the competition. The members of this jury were: Dario Albini (Italian president of Association of illustrators), Ferruccio Giromini (free-lance journalist), Valentino Fanton (art director for Pallino & Co, Communication Agency), Luciano Parenti (editorial director for “3Lune” publishing form), Giovanni Malagutti (president of Fondazione Malagutti onlus).

Thanks to the municipality of Mantua for its collaboration and to San Sebastiano Palace museum (in Mantua) where the exhibition of illustrations was prepared; it was opened from Saturday 31st January to Sunday 1st February.

The picture realized by Valentina Grassini came in first and it will be used as the official image for the 8th edition 2009 of International Drawing Competition aimed to children from 3 to 14 years age.

The winner illustration is titled “Le petit Montgolfier”, painted on canvas, cm 42x29 of size. It shows a smiling child inside a hot air balloon flying over the mountains.

Comment: Dario Albini, the jury’s president, says: “We’re looking at a bright image, fresh in colours and communication with a poetic meaning. It’s important how the child’s expression is characterized: he is a vigorous and determined child, flying a sky full of serenity. Also appreciated the playful use of the line strengths of three mountains in the centre of the composition. Reference to the playful world of childhood”.

Furthermore, jury drowned attention to pictures of: Paolo Rui “Healthly fly…far fly”, Talentino Elisa “Not always a tradden paper tissue is only a tissue” e Crocicchi Silvia “The tree of rights”.
